My name is Ginger Blackman and I've been a Brevard County resident all my life.  I live in Merritt Island with my husband and two young children.  We enjoy a wide variety of outdoor activities including offshore fishing, airboating, snorkeling & diving and riding ATVs.

I discovered ISR when researching swimming programs for my then 2 year old daughter after becoming very dissatisfied with the progress we had made with two other "learn-to-swim" programs that she had been enrolled in since she was 6 months old.  She had lost all fear of the water and would happily jump in, blow bubbles....and sink to the bottom!  Being surrounded by water where we live, combined with all the water activities that we enjoy, I felt that it was imperative that she learn the skills she needed to survive should she ever need them and to be able to SAFELY enjoy the water.

After doing my research I located ISR Instructor, Lisa Persse in Rockledge.  I was initially skeptical when Lisa told me my 2-yr-old would learn in WEEKS instead of YEARS as the other programs had advised, but decided to give it a try and quickly enrolled my daughter.  In a few short weeks she was amazing me with her new life-saving skills.  She could swim-float-swim herself all over the pool at two years old.  I was hooked!  I was so impressed with the scientific approach and the amazing results that I decided to become an ISR Instructor myself and join in ISR's mission “To Prevent Drowning and Enrich the Lives of Children by Teaching Them to Swim" in the spring of '07.

After becoming certified, I taught my infant son the swim-float-swim sequence at 13 months old.  Both of my kids are excellent swimmers and LOVE the water thanks to their strong start with ISR.

Since then, I have enjoyed teaching almost 200 infants and young children the ISR Self-RescueTM  technique.  I am constantly amazed and impressed with what these little ones are capable of learning, even at just 6 months old.

I have a degree in Computer Science and have a background in Marketing and Website Design. I've owned my own website development company, Serendipity Web Productions, since 2000.  I enjoy using these skills to promote my passion- Infant Swimming Resource!

During college, I also studied Behavioral Science and Psychology as well as Early Childhood Development.  Through the ISR Instructor training program I studied Child Behavior and Psychology & Anatomy and Physiology in addition to learning how to teach the ISR Self-Rescue technique to infants and young children.  I am Red Cross Certified in CPR and First Aid.

I love working with children and consider it a great privilege to be able to dedicate myself to such a worthy cause.

I teach from my screened, heated pool in Newfound Harbor in Merritt Island, across from Super Wal-Mart on 520 (scroll down for map and directions).  I am currently closed and plan to resume lessons on April 5th, weather permitting.  I work from a waiting list through most of the summer, so please register early for the best selection of start dates and timeslots.  My spring schedule will be 10:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.  Extended evening hours will begin on May 24th.

I look forward to working with you and your family soon and teaching your kids to become COMPETENT and CONFIDENT in and around the water!
