Hi. I’m Rebecca Pletcher. I live in Cocoa Beach with my husband and 3 children.

All three of my children went through the ISR program at various ages here in Brevard County. My oldest son, Dylan, first took lessons at 9 months old. My interest in becoming a teacher started after seeing his results. My son, Ryan, saved himself more than once using his ISR skills.

My interest in teaching children to swim was can be seen as early as high school and college when I was a WSI (water safety instructor). I have a BS degree in Marketing/Communication from Florida State University. Before starting my family and becoming an ISR Instructor, I spent 10 years in shopping center and television marketing and public relations. Since having children, I have studied child development, brain-based learning, child physiology and behavioral science.

The time was finally right for me to become a certified ISR instructor at the end of 2005. I had spent the last 7 years studying child development and teaching health and fitness as a group fitness instructor. Becoming an ISR instructor was the perfect marriage of several of my skills and interests. Through ISR training, I studied health and safety, child development and behavioral science in order to teach children self-rescue aquatic skills. I am also Certified in CPR and First Aid.

I have since trained many children in life-saving aquatics skills in Brevard County. Each time I see an infant roll over and float or a toddler swim to the steps I feel real joy! I know that this child will be safe in the water.
